In July 2024, a litter of puppies was discovered abandoned between trash cans, suffering from malnutrition and injuries. One of these puppies, named Simone, was rescued and nursed back to health by Tails of Hope Dog Rescue. Recognizing her gentle nature, Simone was adopted by Sally Parish, a vice provost at the University of Memphis, and trained as a therapy dog. She now provides comfort and support to students at University Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee, demonstrating the profound impact of second chances.
